Research Engineering Center (REC) for area development and maritime spatial planning

In 2014 ONHP established its new subdivision in Saint Petersburg – Research Engineering Center (REC) for area development and maritime spatial planning. 

REC is headed by Mr. Pavel P. Spirin, PhD in geography, associate professor, ONHP R&D Director.

Research Engineering Center comprising of 25 specialists within urban planning area, i.e. architects, spatial planners, geographers, economists, engineers and ecologists, performs the full range of research & design activities regarding urban planning: from prefeasibility studies and pre-investments feasibility studies to project design documentation development and designer's supervision.

REC personnel consists of highly skilled and qualified professionals, whose references include more than 300 research and design works with the project geography covering practically all the territory of the Russian Federation. Project decisions developed by REC specialists were used in different countries of the world: Finland, Bulgaria, Syria, North Korea, Iraq, Mongolia etc.

In 2011 REC specialists (as part of NIIP Gradostroitelstva JSC at that time) prepared the draft law “On the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation”, as well as materials regarding urban planning development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation for the Russian State Council.

Nowadays the specialists of ONHP Research Engineering Center implement a joint project on sharing experience of spatial and environmentally oriented planning with German Institute of Spatial Planning (Dresden). This project is implemented within the Russia-Germany Cooperation Agreement with the assistance of the German Ministry for environmental landscaping and the Ministry for Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
