Who is the most creative? Ask ONHP!

Section for university and school students which was held at PAO OMSKNEFTEKHIMPROEKT (ONHP) within the framework of VII International Science & Engineering Technology Conference “Engineering. Future Outlook” is over. Young scientists, university and school students presented more than seventy reports and projects to the expert community. 16 participants were given diplomas; the youngest of them was Mr. Vladimir MIKHAILENKO, a 5 grade student from School no.25 with presentation Stereoscopes in our Life.

According to the experts, this year the conference was held at high professional level. The experts praise the quality of presentations and participants’ readiness to start discussions; all this has made the work in sections diverse and intense. Future scientists and engineers debated with experts, answered tricky questions and stubbornly defended their own opinions. Debates during breaks were hot as well. Young participants and numerous guests shared their impressions, discussed reports, and argued over professional topics and other issues.

Teachers, parents and ONHP CEO, Mr. Igor M. ZUGA led an interesting debate about the teacher’s role in training professional engineering cadres.

According to the CEO opinion, school students, parents and teachers are equal participants of teaching and learning process. “However, thus far success has been achieved by the countries with developed educational culture where the teacher’s status is high,” says the Head of the company. Mr. Igor M. ZUGA points out: “The quality of every educational system cannot exceed the quality of its teaching”. Nowadays skills and abilities fostering should be considered as the smallest task performed by the teacher. “The teacher represents the key person in any educational system. This is the lever, the driver which should make the students want to gain new skills and knowledge. It is necessary to train the students how to work as a team, how to ask the right questions, how to think, how to produce new ideas”, – said Mr. Igor M. ZUGA.

During the conference the participants demonstrated to the expert community their skills of creative thinking, brainwork outside the box, their abilities of coming up with new ideas, of analyzing, of holding discussions. No doubt all these skills were gained thanks to the teachers who generate ideas and initiate interesting endeavors.

The event was concluded with diplomas delivery ceremony. “No one wins and no one loses at the conference. All participants deserve words of gratitude: despite their young age they make a contribution into development of Russian science and engineering”, –said ONHP Chief Engineer, Mrs. Lyubov Y. DERYABINA, during the closing ceremony.

Participants’ opinions:

Ms. Anna ZAKHARETS, 10 grade student from Secondary School no. 56 with Enhanced Studying of Individual Subjects:

“It was the first conference for me. I had not experience of public presentations before. I dared participating thanks to my teacher. As long as I am interested in ecology, I have chosen the topic Detergent Efficiency and Ecological Safety Evaluation. In my opinion this experience is very useful. Especially discussion skills development. I have realized that it is necessary to give clear answers to the experts. In November I will have to address the same presentation within similar event. I think the experience gained during the conference will help me a lot. I will feel myself much more confident.

Mr. Vladimir MIKHAILENKO, 5 grade student from School no.25:

“I adore physics, this is my favorite subject. I have been studying physics since 1 grade: it all started at the physics club, now it is in the curriculum. This is why I want to study this science in the future. I like making experiments. Usually I feel a little bit nervous before addressing presentations but I am sure I will be able to do everything.

Ms. Viktoria SHUMYANKOVA, 11 grade student from Secondary School no.51

“During the conference I presented the project dedicated to the topic titled Study of Impulse Laser Radiation Energy. I am interested in this topic because I want to devote my life to medicine where methods based on lasers are quite common nowadays. During the conference I want to show my skills and also compare myself to the other participants, to get acquainted with tendencies in development of various science branches and join discussions.
