On-the-job training for school students: let’s get it started!
On June 01, 2016 ONHP started summer on-the-job training for the students of Omsk schools. 80 children from 45 Omsk schools will undergo the training in June and July. Many trainees were participants and winners of city, regional, all-Russian and international academic competitions and contests in field-oriented subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, technical drawing, computer science and foreign languages. All children have grade point average of at least 4, 8 in each subject.
During the last 15 years ONHP has been arranging summer on-the-job training for school students of Omsk. This tradition is known to the children. Long before the training start many of them begin to find out when the selection begins. It is interesting that the training encourages many students to improve their knowledge in order to pass competitive selection. ONHP Human Resources Department always has to put a lot of effort to select the candidates. All applicants deserve the training and show enthusiasm. Therefore the winners of the selection can be proud of their victory for a good reason.
- I am aware that ONHP arrange on-the-job training for school students. The company has been patronizing our school for a long time. Other graduates actively shared their experience of the training. They said only good things, indeed - said Alexey Fomin, a student of Lyceum 25 who on June 1 joined other children selected for the training.
In general, the students describe their first days of work at ONHP very cheerfully.
- Each day is very intense, but our supervisors are always ready to help us and they help us a lot - says another trainee, Alexey Cheshegorov, a student of School 124 (Krutaya Gorka). - Usually we do practical tasks until lunch. Then we have Technical English classes, lunch and a regular tour around the company departments.”
The children were asked how difficult it is to be at work during warm summer days.
- It is not difficult at all! - answered everyone.
- Time passes quickly. Each minute we gain new skills. Three days ago I had only an idea of AUTOCAD program, and today I have made my first drawings in this software - says Alexey Fomin who is by the way going to work as an engineer in future.
The month will go too quickly for the children. At the end of the training they will defend their own projects. There will be a summary artistic concert; preparatory activities for the event have already begun. But it is only at the end. A long way full of many interesting things and, of course, sporting contests with ONHP engineers is still ahead. Let’s go!
